International Symposium on Paper Recycling Research and Technology
26/10 a 29/10 em São Paulo/SP

For 40 years operating in the pulp and paper sector, ABTCP is currently one of the most important associations worldwide in its segment. Established with the purpose of technically qualifying the paper manufacturers in Brazil, in order to establish the basis for a sustainable industry, the Association congregates more than one thousand members, generates and publishes specialized information about the productive chain as a whole. ABTCP promotes the most successful and largest technical congress and exhibition in Latin America. See www.abtcp.org.br. RIARREC is an Ibero-American open network which aims to seed and promote interrelationship among academic researchers, industrial engineers and managers from all the Ibero-American countries, working with cellulosic fiber recycling. See www.fiq.unl.edu.ar/riarrec. RIARREC is supported by CYTED and promotes seminars, symposium, researchers mobility and student internship.

PRESENTATION

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Symposium are to provide opportunities for scientists from different countries to exchange recent results related to fundamental knowledge about paper recycling; to promote cooperation among different groups, and to provide technical suggestions and recommendations to recycled paper manufacturers, including technical aims to small and medium-scale production entrepreneurs. The Symposium will be a unique opportunity for graduate students, experts and managers to see and contact the worldwide leaders on recycled paper making researches. We expect to welcome 80-100 highly qualified practitioners.

MAIN SUBJECTS
The general theme of the Symposium is the Revaluation of Cellulosic Fiber Recycling and this overarching theme will be discussed in the following specific topics: (1) The market of secondary fibers. Quality of the recovered paper. (2) Efficiency of pulping, cleaning, refining and papermaking. (3) Closing water system. Environmental management. (4) Wet end chemistry. Stickies control. (5) Mechanical properties and chemistry of recycled products. (6) Deinking and bleaching. (7) Printing quality and absorbency of recycled paper. All of the above topics, not excluding other relevant topics, will be addressed in an interdisciplinary way, including manufacturing technologies.

ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS
The program of the Symposium will include several important keynote lectures, voluntary few oral presentation and mostly poster presentations. Oral and poster contributions will be regarded as scientifically equivalent in the program. All the presentations can be in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. The oral presentation will be strongly asked to be submitted in English. The Symposium will provide English translation to Portuguese. The accepted papers will be electronically published in CD and presented for open access in the RIARREC website. A book of abstracts will be printed. The steering committee will screen the papers and invite for O Papel Journal submission.

PAPER SUBMISSION
Firstly we invite you to submit a one-page abstract with the paper title, authors’ full names, complete address and e-mail, half page (twenty lines) summary with scope and main results, and five keywords. The paper abstract should be submitted in a WORD DOC extension file. The text should be formatted to A-4 size with upper and lower margins of 2 cm, 3 cm left margin and 2 cm right margin. The pages must be numbered at the bottom of the page, in the center. Use Arial fonts with body 14 for title; body 12 for subtitle and body 10 for text. The title of the paper must be underlined and centered. Three lines after the title, on the left margin of the page, type your names and companies of the authors, city and country using Arial 10 fonts. The key words should be in English and two lines after the summary. After paper acceptance notification, the authors will receive the complete format of paper presentation. We expect at most 30-page papers. The authors should submit the paper proposal (abstract) by e-mail to the personal address of any member of the Steering Committee. Please make this important note: all the papers, invitation to presentation, and programme will be organized by the Steering Committee. All of the physical organization such as registration, technical session room structure and patronage management will be conducted by the Secretariat of the Symposium.

REGISTRATION FEE FREE
The Symposium is fee free, but early registration is mandatory. The Certification of participation will be provided on request. Please enjoy the hospitality desk, coffee and refreshments during the Symposium. However, for the welcome reception, social and cultural events, exhibition and to other areas of the Congress, such as Kraft pulping and bleaching, chemical recovery, and so on, we strongly recommend your inscription to the ABTCP Congress and to Gala Dinner, both with some cost.
